Woodland K-8 Summer Adventures 2023

(camp will not be held the week of July 4th)
Registration will be for the grade your child is entering in the Fall of 2023.
Each week will have a theme associated with Woodland Adventure Camp. All activities will be aligned with the topic for the week and an on-campus field trip or experience will take place. For example, during the Oceanic Explorers week, the Marine Science Institute will visit campus. Students will attend the Adventure Camp for half of the day and then sign up for a specialized class for the other half of the day. Each of the sessions will be 3 hours in length with a lunch break in between.

In this class, campers listen and dance to different types of music like reggaeton, electropop, movie soundtracks, salsa and pop. We will explore solo and group modalities. This will be an enriching experience as students practice steps and coordinate movements with Spanish words, all while having fun.
Kindergarten only: Kindergarten Cub Camp (Heidi Haas and Schenelle Henry, Woodland Teachers)
Join us for Cub Camp, designed to acclimate incoming Kindergarten students to the beautiful Woodland campus and to learn about life in lower school. During this week-long experience your child will have the opportunity to practice foundational concepts through hands-on activities to further develop social emotional and fine motor skills. Children will build a sense of community through collaboration and cooperative play, practice listening skills and transitions, learn math and literacy through arts and crafts, all while exploring and adjusting to their new surroundings on Woodland's beautiful 11 acres!

From decoding messages to metal detectors and night vision, campers check out spy tech equipment and take-home lots of gadgets! Step into the shoes of a detective as you uncover the science involved in evidence gathering and analysis! Figure out the science of forensics and reveal who is behind those crazy capers! Become a super spy and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a hands-on view of the science that spies and detectives use!
K-1: Tennis Camp (Euro School of Tennis)
Our modified equipment is ideal for young beginners, ensuring they learn at their level and grasp the fundamentals of this fantastic sport. Smaller racquets, low-compression red balls and an 18ft portable net are all provided, all you need to do is sign your children up and we’ll have them enjoying this great sport in no time. Tennis equips students with great skills that carry over to other sports and even into the classroom. Students increase their level of physical endurance and coordination and gain mental strength through enhanced concentration and self-discipline.

Kids’ Carpentry is designed to teach students the safe use of hand tools and general woodworking skills. Through a sequence of projects, young carpenters gain the skill and competence to complete increasingly more complicated projects. From boats to bird feeders, doll furniture, clocks, games, airplanes, and many more, the kids have a wide range of projects to choose from besides designing and building according to their own needs and imagination for the veteran carpenter. Camp lessons will teach students about craftsmanship (the difference between spending a little more time on a project with an entirely different outcome). They also will have a painting station in which instructors will show the students new painting techniques all while learning in a positive and fun environment.

Join this Scratch coding camp to learn the fundamentals of coding and build some exciting games using the Scratch development platform. Students will build exciting games and educational programs in this class and understand the fundamentals of coding concepts in a fun and creative environment. Students will start with the core concepts of programming, including variables, conditions, loops, etc., and then move on to the deeper concepts like game movements, game controls, events, strategy building, etc. Scratch is developed and maintained by the MIT media lab at MIT. Scratch enables young people to learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively - essential skills for life in the 21st century. *This camp does not require any prior programming knowledge or experience.

Orbiting Oasis: LANDO helps students solve real world engineering challenges by designing, prototyping and testing their own concepts — using LEGOs, 3D pens, kid-safe electronics, and other modular building blocks! This class features brand new classes set onboard the Orbiting Oasis. Help Professor Puffin improve and repair the space station by creating robotic arms, fixing a malfunctioning escape pod, improving our water filtration system, and so much more. Lando will be the highlight of your kid’s summer! Our carefully crafted engineering challenges will take your kids on an interactive design journey that will leave them feeling confident and inspired.

Design, build, and program cool robots using the VEX IQ Robotics Platform. Learn how to solve robotics challenges and missions by programming your VEX IQ robot equipped with sensors, motors, and other attachments. In this camp, students will focus on both building and programming. They will use VEX IQ robot sets to build and program autonomous robots that will complete the fun and engaging challenges. This camp focuses on STEM and is a great way to master robotics, engineering and programming using science and math. VEX offers students a rich and exciting platform to immerse themselves in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through the fun of building robots. *This camp does not require any prior VEX IQ programming knowledge or experience.

Even older kids like to get their hands dirty! In this class students will be able to do just that while they learn to roll, blend color, and sculpt more advanced clay projects that may include some of the cutest polymer clay jewelry ever, fantastic wind chimes, and truly unique wall hangings. No doubt that this is tons more fun than that other “doh” they used to play with!

Cancellation Policy
We have created cancellation/change policies that are easy to understand, flexible, and transparent.
What if...
- You need to change your dates or the specialty camp selected: If you need to change your dates or sessions up to 14 days before the start of the camp session, just contact us and if there is space available, we’ll make that change. A $50.00 Processing Fee will apply.
- You need to cancel on or before March 31, 2023: Receive 100% of the tuition less the $100 non-refundable deposit.
- You need to cancel between April 1 and April 31, 2023: Receive 50% of the tuition less the non-refundable $100 deposit.
- You need to cancel after May 1, 2023: Unfortunately, on such short notice, no credit or refund is available.
- Woodland needs to cancel before the start of your camp session: Receive 100% of the amount back to the original payment method.
- Woodland needs to cancel for any reason after the start of your camp session: Receive a prorated refund back to the original payment method based on the number of days the program runs.
- If a cancellation is needed due to a COVID-19 diagnosis for the child enrolled, please contact us for refund options.
