The 2020 Summer Adventures Program is cancelled due to Covid-19.
Woodland School is offering camps for preschool through 8th grade students this summer! Summer Adventures provides age appropriate learning opportunities. This program is designed to prepare your students for a smooth transition into the next grade level while providing plenty of summer fun!
- 9:00am to 4:00pm, June 22nd- July 24th (no camp July 3rd)

The last day to register is April 24th. The last day to be eligible for refunds is February 24th. Please remember to REGISTER FOR THE GRADE LEVEL YOUR CHILD(REN) WILL ATTEND IN THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR.
Week 1

Welcome to Summer Adventures! This week in Lower School students have "Wacky & Wonderful" things planned. See the daily tab below for specifics on the upcoming adventures. Middle School will be going on a field trip to Great America, building ice cream sundaes, and more. See the daily tab below for details on each day's happenings.
Ms. Pat is here this week to teach Art techniques that will inspire artists from preschool to 8th grade!

Monday
EC: Activities, play, and opportunities to learn about this week's theme. Stay tuned for details about the upcoming fun! EC Camps are only available to EC students (ages 3 & 4) enrolled at Woodland for the 2020-2021 school year.
LS: Get your racing shoes on! It's time for "Racing Relays". With tricycles, balloons, beach balls, and scooters, these are not your average relay races. Get ready for some unforgettable fun!
MS: "Super Scoop" day! Let the ice cream sundae building begin. With over ten toppings, students will enjoy the splendor of their dessert creation! Games and challenges with Coaches are also planned for this day along with the start of their week long project that will aim to enhance skills to feel confident and prepared for the upcoming school year!
Tuesday
EC: JumpBunch class happens today along with activities, play, and opportunities in coordination with this week's theme. Stay tuned for more details about the upcoming fun!
LS: JumpBunch class for Kindergarteners begins today! Also, students will continue working on their projects with classmates and enjoy some camp fun too! Bouncing, jumping and sliding, oh my! Jump houses are at Woodland today!
MS: Never too old for Jump Houses, yes, middle schoolers will also be jumping, playing basketball, and sliding in the inflatable jumpers! Games and challenges with Coaches are also planned for this day along with the continuation of their week long projects.
Wednesday
EC: While the sun is shining there's lots of playing and exploring that happens each day! Get ready for more activities, play, and opportunities in coordination with this week's theme.
LS: Each day students engage in challenges, activities, and games with coaches. Students will also have a chance to cool down with water balloons while playing Water Balloon Volleyball!
MS: FIELD TRIP DAY! After working on projects in the morning, students will climb aboard for a super fun day at Great America!
Thursday
EC: Today students will begin Dance & Tumble with Ms. Melinda fo GymKids!
LS: You've been slimed! Today students will put on their mad scientist hats while they enter the lab to create their own concoction of Goo and Slime! Today also begins Gymnastics with Ms. Melinda of GymKids!
MS: Today students are challenged with creating their own version of a super obstacle course! Tricycles, scooters, hula hoops, hurdles, water balloons, and whip cream are provided...along with whatever else can be imagined!
Friday
EC: While the sun is shining there's lots of playing and exploring that happens each day! Get ready for more activities, play, and opportunities in coordination with this week's theme.
LS: Be sure to bring your swim wear and a towel! Today students will be slip-sliding away on the inflatable waterslides. Plenty of jumping, cooling off, and sliding for everyone!

This week we celebrate Independence Day! To do so we have camp Monday through Thursday while reserving Friday (7/3) for celebration with loved ones (there will be no camp that day). Click on the daily tabs below for details about the exciting events this week!

EC: This week begins new adventures with a new theme for the week! Stay tuned for more details
LS: A real American treat: Pie a la mode! Grab a spoon to dig into your favorite pie and ice cream to kick off this week's theme of "Magical Stars & Stripes"
MS: This week begins "Life 101". Students will engage in fun, life skills that will create confidence and experience to tackle some of the most basic necessities of life. Today: "Cooking 101"- What do you need to know about being in the kitchen? What is that appliance used for? How do I cook that? How do I bake this?
Tuesday
EC: Today students engage in JumpBunch with Coach Grant!
LS: Along with JumpBunch, today students will have the opportunity to participate in Woodland's First Annual Baseball Challenge. No, not a baseball game, just most of the elements and skills needed to play in a baseball game but with more fun and interaction!
MS: Intro to Mechanics: a special visitor from Ron Ramie's Auto body Shop joins us for an afternoon of "what you need to know" while driving or riding in a car! Roll up your sleeves, this may take some elbow grease!
Wednesday
EC & LS: Along with projects in the classroom and around campus, today students will amused and amazed by a terrific magician who boasts to have "the most spectacular magic show!"
MS: After the most spectacular magic show, students will make some magic of their own by creating custom made chocolate molds in the Design Lab! And yes, of course, those molds will be filled with the most delicious chocolate!
Thursday
EC: Today is Dance & Tumble with Ms. Melinda of GymKids!
LS: Have you ever been told not to play with your food? Well, today we are going to play with our food to create American flags to invent a most delicious creation. Today is also Gymnastics with Ms. Melinda of GymKids!
MS: FIELD TRIP DAY! Today students will experience a gravitational anomaly at the Mystery Spot in Santa Cruz!

LS: To start off the week students will create their own mermaid crown and/or pirate hat. We must be festive and ready for tomorrow's Pirate Carnival.

LS: In addition to JumpBunch for Kindergartners, the Pirate Carnival is today! Get ready to walk the plank, pin the patch on the Pirate, toss the ring on the bottles, and much more!
MS: Art with Ms. Pat, Games and Challenges, and the Pirate Carnival...pretty much sums up another great day at Woodland's Summer Adventures!

EC: Today we explore, create, make memories, and engage in activities that are sure to entice even the youngest Wildcats! Also, students will have an unforgettable experience seeing talking parrots that play basketball, ride scooters, sing, and much more! We always look forward to our visit from "Happy Birds"

LS: Back by popular demand...Inflatable Waterslides! Our water lovers and thrill seekers can't get enough. Be sure to BRING your swimwear and towel. (You will have the opportunity to change into your swimwear before sliding down into a nice, cool pool. We will change back into dry clothes after the festivities so be sure to bring a waterproof bag to put wet clothes into)
MS: FIELD TRIP DAY! Time to cool off, let's go to Aqua Adventures Water Park! (BRING swimwear and towel)

Carpentry for Kindergarteners up to 8th graders begin this week! Cooking is also offered, along with so much more. Lower School students explore their creativity at Summer Adventures as we celebrate "Spirit Week"!

LS: Mulan, Tigger, The Hulk, Wonderwoman...the choice is yours! Dress up as your favorite Disney or Superhero character today. (No masks or weapons of any kind)
MS: Pull out your apron, today you will test your skills at decorating your own cake. Let your creativity flow!

LS: Today Kinders get to do JumpBunch with Coach Grant! Whether it's blue, ratted, in a mohawk or twenty ponytails, create your masterpiece on Crazy Hair Day!
MS: Experience and develop a new kind of skill- Leather Crafting. With tools and a blank canvas of leather, the sky is the limit!

MS: Test your culinary skills and creativity today at "Woodland Chef Experience". You will have ingredients, direction from a guest chef, and time to create your culinary masterpiece!

LS: Pull out the neon and leg warmers! It's our final day of Spirit Week and we are going out in style with "I love the 80's" spirit day.
MS: FIELD TRIP DAY! Today students have a 30 minute lesson then 30 minutes of practicing their skill at archery! We will be traveling to Pacifica Archery.

It's our final week of Summer Adventures which includes Art with Ms. Pat, Carpentry, Cooking, and awesome "on-site" visitors!
Tuesday is a Reptile Show with tortoises, snakes, and an array of lizards. Wild Mind from Half Moon Bay have special rescue animals that are the stars of the show while we learn about their habitats, their rescue stories, and how we can build a better future for these amazing animals.

Our last day of summer fun at Woodland's Summer Adventures!
Today we will have special visitors from Wild Mind (formerly know as Wildlife Associates).
WildLIFE Associates, has been extending a hand... or paw... to the people of Half Moon Bay through their community outreach programs for over 24 years. Their live animal school assemblies have been entertaining and educating schools by bringing the animals out of the zoo and into the classroom.Their newest program, Wild Teachers for Youth focuses on assisting teen intervention organizations by allowing at-risk teens to work in the 120-acre wildlife sanctuary where the animals are the teachers. A truly ground-breaking organization, WildLIFE Associates has been a part of Half Moon Bay's educational system

A 5 DAY INTERNATIONAL SWEET AND SAVORY CULINARY ADVENTURE: July 6-10
Each day will be devoted to learning the cuisine of a different country.
We will start in India and will cook the famous and popular Chicken Tikka Masala with Garlic and Butter Naan and Cardamom Rice Pudding, then we are off to China for Potstickers, Orange Chicken and Egg Tarts, next we will discover Japan for Ramen, Vegetarian Sushi and Butter Cookies, then Spain for Empanadas, Patata Bravas and Flan, and finally we will explore London for Fish and Chips, Mushy Peas and Bread Pudding.
PERFECT PIZZAS AND PASTAS: July 13-17
Learn to create and bake a different pizza and pasta each day of this weeks summer camp.
Make your favorite recipe, or try experimenting at a new one.
Pizza combinations are exciting and endless such as Summer Meat lovers Pizza, Hawaiian Pizza, 3-Cheese Pizza, Mediterranean Combo or Veggie Delight.
Pasta favorites include Stuffed Manicotti Shells, Caprese Chicken Lasagna, Turkey Ragu, Potato Gnocchi and Spaghetti Alla Carbonara
BAKING BONANZA: July 20-24
Cooking campers will explore the delicious world of baking in this 5 day summer camp.
If your child loves to bake and eat a variety of baked savory dishes and sweet desserts, then this camp will surely enhance their culinary skills and sweet senses!
The week’s sweet recipes include Snickerdoodle Cookies, Vanilla Cupcakes with Buttermilk Frosting and Sprinkles, Pineapple Upside Down Cake, Apple Pie with Custard, Cheesecake, Strawberry Shortcake Puffs, Cinnamon Rolls, Smore's Pudding, Lemon Bars and Brownies.
The savory recipes are Pretzels, Garlic Breadsticks, Sausage Rolls, Enchiladas, Triple Cheese and Herbed Muffins, Scones, Pull Apart Bread Rolls, Spanakopita, Rosemary Cornbread and Chicken Pot Pie.

John Tust is a professional carpenter with 25 years of experience and a "Kids Carpentry" Instructor since 2011. Mr. Tust teaches children the safe-use of woodworking with hand-tools. While building their projects from scratch, students are introduced to concepts of applied math, problem solving, fine motor skills, and empowerment to become independent thinkers. Projects may include boats, clocks, games, trucks, doll furniture, and much more.
