Woodland's team of Future Problem Solvers once again advances to the California state competition.

A group of Woodland students is headed to the Future Problem Solving Program of California state competition in San Diego April 20-22.

The Woodland students, Nikhil (6th grade), Ella (7th grade), Zachary (7th grade), and Ryan (7th grade), will compete against students in 7th through 9th grade in the Middle Division for Future Problem Solving of California’s state competition. This year’s qualifying problems included Spread of Infectious Disease, Toxic Materials, and Philanthrocapitalism.

Last year, the same team—then a group of 5th and 6th grade students competing in the Junior Division (4th through 6th grade)—placed third in the state.

This year Nikhil Chand placed third in the Junior Division in Scenario Writing for Future Problem Solving Program California and will be evaluated for the international competition. Last year, Chand competed in the Jr. Division Scenario Writing  Competition at the Future Problem Solvers International Competition in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was paired with 3 other students from around the world in the same division. The team took home third place for their scenario writing on the topic of Biosecurity.
