DEIJ Faculty and Staff

Woodland’s faculty and staff explore DEIJ topics through professional development, conferences, inservices, conversations, book clubs, and professional learning communities.  OneWoodland, a teacher-led group of educators committed to advancing DEIJ work in schools, provides training to faculty on a variety of topics and serves as mentors for colleagues.

Each year, employees of color have the opportunity to take part in the NAIS People of Color Conference.  During the 2020-2021 school year, employees engaged in Book Clubs focused on DEIJ topics.  Titles included, So You Want to Talk About Race, Me and White Supremacy, White Fragility, How to be an Anti-Racist, Stamped From the Beginning, and Between the World and Me. In the 2021-2022 school year, professional development highlighted individual identity and bias and how it shapes decision making as educators. In addition, one professional learning community explored various ways to integrate diverse voices into a curriculum and classroom.
